The editor screen
The editor screen has a header on top and four areas under it: the tool panels on the left, the Player in the middle, the Inspector on the right, and the Timeline along the bottom. This page names every part and shows how the layout changes on tablets and phones.
The header
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Back | Return to the Library. |
| Title | The project's (or template's) name. |
| Version history | The clock icon: restore an earlier version. See Export and versions. |
| Undo / Redo | Ctrl/⌘ Z and Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z. Disabled with Nothing to undo. |
| Status | Saved, Saving…, Offline — changes will sync, A change was refused or Editor updated (with Reload). See . |
| Avatars | Everyone else editing this project. |
| 2 media offline | Media whose file left the Drive. Opens . |
| Render status | Queued, Waiting for render #2/5, Preparing… or Rendering 42% while an export runs. |
| Export | Opens the render dialog. See . |
In a template, the header also has the Template settings icon and Publish. See .
The four areas
| Area | What lives there |
|---|---|
| Tool panels (left) | Tabs: Media, Text, Effects, Filters, Transitions, Captions, Voice, plus panels from installed packs. See . |
| Player (middle) | The canvas with the gizmo, and the transport controls. See . |
| Inspector (right) | The selected clip's or transition's settings. See . |
| Timeline (bottom) | The toolbar, tracks, clips, markers and the playhead. See . |
Resize the areas
Drag the thin bar between two areas to resize them. A tab strip that doesn't fit gets scroll arrows. Your layout is remembered in this browser.
Phones and tablets
- Tablet: the Player and Inspector sit side by side over the Timeline; the tool panels move to a rail you open with a tap.
- Phone: the Player sits over the Timeline (side by side in landscape), with one bar underneath. The bar shows the tool panels; select a clip and it turns into that clip's toolbox (Edit, More, split, delete…). Tool panels and the Inspector open as a bottom sheet that keeps the Player visible.
- Touch gestures: tap selects, a long press opens the actions sheet (the touch version of right-click), pinch zooms the timeline or the canvas, and a swipe scrolls. The Player's control row gains Split, Undo and Fullscreen; you scrub on the timeline.
FAQ
How do I get the default layout back?
Clear the editor's saved layout by resetting the site data for Rewivo in your browser; the editor falls back to the default layout.
Can I hide a panel?
Drag its divider to make it as small as it goes. Panels you can't see are always one tap away on tablets and phones.
