Video Editor
Editing style
Your editing style makes the editor behave like the one you already know: CapCut or Premiere Pro. It sets the keyboard shortcuts and how a few gestures work. Pick it the first time you open the editor, or later in Preferences; change any single key in Keyboard shortcuts.
What changes
| Behaviour | CapCut | Premiere Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Split at the playhead | Ctrl/⌘ B | Ctrl/⌘ K |
| Q / W | Cut away before / after the playhead (the main track closes up) | Ripple trim the previous / next edit to the playhead |
| Ctrl/⌘ D | Duplicate | Add the default transition |
| Tools | A select, B split | V select, A track select, C razor, B ripple, N rolling, R rate stretch, Y slip, U slide |
| Dropping onto a clip | Goes to a free track (a new one above if needed) | Overwrites it; Ctrl/⌘ inserts |
| Clicking an empty lane | Moves the playhead | Deselects only |
| Paste | On a new track | On the targeted track |
| Mouse wheel on the timeline | Scrolls up and down | Scrolls left and right |
| Main track magnet, linkage | On | Off |
| Default transition | 0.5 s | 1 s |
| Ripple edits | The main track | Every unlocked track |
| Track targeting | — | A target button on each track |
Everything else works the same in both, as it does in both apps: J/K/L shuttle, Shift ← / → five frames, Alt ← / → nudge clips, I/O, markers, ↑ / ↓ to the previous / next edit, and more.
FAQ
Can I mix the two?
Yes. Pick the closer one, then change single keys in Keyboard shortcuts and behaviours in Preferences.
Does my style change the project?
No. Styles only change how the editor reacts to you; teammates can use different ones on the same project.
