Player and canvas
The Player shows the frame under the playhead, and its canvas is where you place things directly: every visible clip gets a box you can move, scale and rotate with the mouse or your fingers. Under the canvas sit the transport controls; above it, the view and snapping options.
Move, scale and rotate on the canvas
Click a clip on the canvas to select it (Shift-click adds or removes). Its box shows handles:
| Gesture | What it does |
|---|---|
| Drag inside the box | Move the clip. |
| Drag a corner or side handle | Resize. The opposite edge stays put. |
| Shift + drag a corner | Keep the proportions. |
| Alt + drag a handle | Resize from the centre. |
| Drag the knob above the box | Rotate. Shift locks to 15° steps. |
| Click empty canvas | Clear the selection. |
| Two fingers on a selected clip | Scale and rotate it together. |
Text set to Reflow re-wraps inside its box when you resize it (the font size stays); Scale stretches it like any element. See .
Captions on the canvas
Drag a caption to move it (a caption without its own position moves every caption on its track). Double-click a caption to retype it; press Enter to finish. Retyped words keep their timing.
The motion path
When a clip's position is keyframed, the canvas draws the path its anchor travels, with a dot on each position keyframe:
- Tap a dot to jump the playhead to that keyframe.
- Drag a dot to move that keyframe's position.
- Drag a tangent handle to bend the path through the keyframe; the other side mirrors it for a smooth curve.
- Double-click a dot to switch between a sharp corner and a smooth curve.
Snapping and view options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Safe-area snapping | Box edges and centre pull to the canvas edges, centre and safe insets; rotation pulls to right angles. |
| Grid snapping | The anchor snaps to a grid; rotation rounds to 5°. |
| Dim background | Darken everything outside the canvas, so overhanging video is easy to spot. |
| Fit to viewport | Fit the canvas back into the view. |
| Canvas background color | Colour (pick one) or Blur (a blurred copy of the picture). Not offered in templates. |
Zoom and pan the canvas
- Scroll to pan; Ctrl/⌘ + scroll or pinch to zoom about the pointer (10% to 500%).
- Drag the background, or drag with the middle mouse button anywhere, to pan.
Transport controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|

| Preview for social media | Draw TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels over the canvas, to see what their buttons cover. Needs a 9:16 canvas. |
| Fullscreen | Fill the screen with the Player. |
Drag media onto the canvas
Drag a video or image from the Media panel onto the canvas: a preview shows where it would land, fitted inside the canvas. Audio and text go on the timeline instead.
FAQ
How do I centre a clip exactly?
Turn on Safe-area snapping and drag it: it pulls to the canvas centre. Or set Pos X and Pos Y to 0 in the .
Why does part of my video hang outside the canvas?
Cover-fitted video fills the frame and overhangs it. Switch the clip's Fit to Contain in the Inspector, or turn on Dim background to see the overhang.
