Captions
Captions show the spoken words on screen, timed word by word and styled by a caption pack. The editor makes them from speech for you, and you can edit every word, its timing and its look.
Generate captions
- Open the Captions panel and pick a Style.
- Select a video or audio clip and press Generate from selected clip, or select nothing and press Generate from the main track.
- The panel shows Listening…, then adds a Captions track: 24 captions added.
No speech found in this clip means there was nothing to transcribe.
Edit captions
Select the caption track's clip. The Inspector's Captions tab lists every caption:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search captions | Find a caption by its words. |
| Text | Edit the caption's words. |
| Start (s), Duration (s) | Its timing. |
| Advanced: word timing | Each Word with its own timing. |
| Add a caption after this one / Remove caption | Add or remove. |
| Apply to all captions | Copy this caption's style to every caption. |
| Use the track's style | Drop a caption's own style. |
On the canvas, double-click a caption to retype it (words keep their timing) and drag it to move it. See .
Style
The Style tab sets the track's caption style. Caption packs animate the words in their own way (pop, highlight, karaoke and more); some offer options such as colours.
